My Background

I have led the digital marketing departments for Sundance Channel (2002-2006), Focus Features (2008-2014), and Bleecker Street Films (2014-2019). Coupled with my consulting work, I have designed marketing campaigns for over a hundred films and television series in the course of my career. Below are just a few of my favorites.

Analytics Systems & Insights Reporting

My first step in every marketing campaign is establishing KPIs and putting an analytic infrastructure in place to measure variables such as awareness, engagements, and traffic. I keep stakeholders regularly informed on the latest insights gleaned from multiple metric sources and work with developers to create custom metric variables in our tagging to enhance visibility into complex user interactions.

Content Strategy and SEO

Old methods of adding a meta-description and keywords to your code no longer suffice to keep up with today's SEO strategies. "Content is King" has never been more true with regards to getting web visibility. For your content (and company) to show up in organic search results, your content needs to be relevant and freshly updated.

I've develop content strategies for nationally recognized entertainment brands that  serve the full marketing ecosystem.  This requires an understanding the target market for each individual program and developing content tailored specifically for these consumers while maintaining a common editorial “voice” appropriate for the company and campaign.

Social Marketing & Listening

For Focus Features, I managed content strategy and delivery for over 40 social accounts leveraging our current and past film releases.  This represented 50MM+ followers on Facebook alone.  In addition to establishing content ecosystems that can syndicate across multiple channels, I also established the social listening strategies that built brand loyalty and audience retention.

Email Marketing

For both Bleecker Street and Focus Features I oversaw email marketing, creating impactful, animated, emails that grabbed the user's attention. Utilizing A/B testing in your email campaigns can help glean learnings that can be applied to other campaigns where A/B testing is not readily available, and email automation can help your acquisition campaigns maximize results.

Websites and Digital Product Design

My early career was in visual game design and web production, which has led to my taking the lead for User Experience (UX) and product design initiatives for digitally led marketing campaigns such as websites, mobile apps, games, sweepstakes, and other technical projects.

I develop low-fidelity interactive prototypes using Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD. These prototypes allow designers to test interactive design concepts prior to producing the full-range of assets required to launch a website. This allows for more refining to happen with less wasted resources.

Leadership Statement

I have experience managing as many as 20 direct reports, and also much smaller teams supplemented with agency and consultant resources. My leadership style is both collaborative and direct, providing each team member the information, feedback, and clearly articulated mission that they need to be successful in their assigned role.

The marketing strategies I design are thoroughly informed by both long-range and short-term business goals and I take care to set up my department to be flexible and adaptable to any shift in priorities that may arise. 

I thrive in the role of translator; working with all stakeholders to understand the goals and challenges at hand, helping to strategize and visualize marketing solutions to meet those challenges, and then working with my team to produce those solutions efficiently. I keep my colleagues informed weekly on our progress through regular metric reports and gleaned insights, and I encourage their engagement and feedback on these findings.
